tonight at Black Cat: Title Tracks / Cymbals Eat Guitars
Since Title Tracks joined Cymbals Eat Guitars in Brooklyn a few weeks back, it's only proper that they make their way down to DC. Tonight these two will be together again with Sinta kicking off the evening. It's a backstage show at Black Cat, doors open at 8:30, and tickets are only $10.
New demo below. So exciting! Here's an e-mail I just got from Casey of Thrushes...
Hi friends,
Just wanted to update everybody on some exciting developments in the Thrushes nest!
1. Original drummer, Matt Davis, has rejoined the band and we are hard at work on the follow up to "Sun Come Undone." The new album will be called "Night Falls" and is expected to be released in the fall.
2. Our good friends at the Metro Gallery in Baltimore are throwing their first outdoor festival to celebrate their second anniversary and it's a doozie! Rufustival is June 6th and features good friends and sonic terrorists, A Place to Bury Strangers, Dirty Projectors, Chairlift, and many more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter) and their Franky Fund. This is a fantastic organization doing great work for our furred and feathered friends. If there is any way that you can help spread the world, we would be forever grateful. To celebrate Thrushes will be playing our entire new album months before it's released!! Tickets are $25 here.
3. We're one of five finalists in Artscape's SoundOff! Competition. We'd really love to play America's largest free arts festival so please vote as often as you can before May 31st.
Crocodiles have been one of my favorite discoveries in 2009 and tonight they're opening up for Holy Fuck at Rock & Roll Hotel. Doors 8:00, show 8:30, tickets $12.
Prabir And The Substitutes are opening up a show for Malbec and Tally Hall on Thursday night at DC9. If you'd like a chance to win a pair of tickets, email me at 5actsblog at gmail dot com and use the title of the new EP from Prabir And The Substitutes as the subject.

This photo is so great! I think we should all have animals mounted on our walls.
Tonight Wye Oak will be on the backstage at Black Cat with openers Pomegranates, whose latest record hasn't been praised as much as it deserves to be. Doors open at 9:00, tickets $10.
Black Cat is always there to help the DC folk start the weekend right. Tonight is These United States headlining with openers Greenland and The Spinto Band! Doors open at 9:00, tickets only $12.
And if you're not able to catch these bands during this tour, you can hear two out of three tomorrow live in the Lounge on WOXY.com. The Dears will be on at 2:00 pm ET and Eulogies will play at 4:15 pm ET.
